Eye Glasses and Eye Safety Q&A

Q: I work in a warehouse environment and occasionally drive a forklift. I have always had Transitions lenses, and I'm now being told they are not safe in this environment. Should I be wearing a tint, or are my Transitions lenses okay? — N.S., South Carolina

Eye doctors answer questions about safety glasses, including ANSI standards and OSHA recommendations for how to protect your eyes in the workplace and at home.

Coronavirus Update — March 18, 2020

Our top priority is the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff. Therefore, based on the CDC’s recommendations, we are currently only seeing patients who have an eye emergency. Please contact us if you are having an eye emergency. Our office will still be open to answer any questions you have, to make appointments, and to order contact lenses. If we don’t pick up right away, please leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We will have limited hours for curbside pick up for eyeglasses and contacts. Please call first before coming to check our hours and availability for that day.

We will continue to offer you the same level of service that we always have. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We are constantly monitoring the situation and will resume all of our routine eye exam appointments as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your patience and ongoing support during this challenging time.
